Routine foot care is available for interested patients at all RIFC offices. This service, which may be medically necessary and covered by some health insurance plans (i.e. Medicare), typically consists of nail trimming, or debridement, as well as lesion debridement (i.e. corns, calluses). Patients may elect to call as needed for this care, or schedule visits on a regular basis.
Medicare and other health insurance plans have coverage provisions of medical necessity that include sample criteria of poor peripheral circulation, diabetes mellitus with vascular or neurological manifestations, or use of an approved blood thinner.
