Biomechanical Analysis and Custom Biomechanical Foot Orthoses (Orthotics)
The doctors of RIFC are specialists in the biomechanical examination (relationship of orthopedic structure to function) of the lower extremity. This type of examination, which can include stance and gait analysis, can be integral in the conservative management of foot deformities, as well as in appropriate surgical planning.
RIFC doctors highly recommend patient consideration of custom foot orthoses as a valued component of maintaining good foot health and pain free ambulation. Foot orthoses (or orthotics) are made following an impression of the feet taken in the office. The doctor then prepares a customized prescription to the orthotic laboratory who will fabricate the devices. Additionally, specialized and typically insurance covered foot/ankle braces can be custom made if needed.
